At University of Minnesota, captionists are committed to fostering a welcoming and communication-rich environment in which Deaf and hard of hearing students, staff, faculty and guests can fully engage in all aspects of the University experience!
C-Print captionists:
- Work with students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
- Are trained professionals who type spoken English which displays as text on a screen.
- Provide speech-to-text service through the use of a laptop computer and a specialized software called C-Print Pro. This software enables the captioner to type efficiently with fewer keystrokes.
- Type auditory information to be simultaneously read by the person who is Deaf or hard of hearing.
- Follow the University of Minnesota’s code of professional conduct along with the C-Print Code of Ethics which ensures confidentiality of all assignment-related information.
